It’s almost officially fall! Here in Los Angeles, we don’t have the same clearly defined seasons or wardrobe changes, yet we all still crave one. We’re ready to take any excuse to pull on a new comfy sweater, even if it’s just sitting in that air conditioned coffee shop Downtown. On the site we have “jumpers” for all occasions and all variations of this crisp season. If you’re like us and prepping for fall in a warmer climate then we have some less-heavy pieces to get you into the spirit. On the other hand, if you live in an area with actual seasons and are looking to cozy up as it cools down, we’ve got you covered as well! And, as always, for those adventurous types who want to shake things up, we have fun pieces to really make a statement these next few months. Fall doesn’t just mean pumpkin spice everything, it means looking great and feeling good!
One way to mix up your wardrobe without fully swapping your wardrobe for cold weather clothing, is to work in some fall colors. Get in the mood with jewel tones that will help you to transition into a softer season. Jewel tones are generally any colors which resemble gemstones like amethyst, sapphire, ruby and citrine. This category of colors are perfect for moving from summer to fall because there is still a pop with each color in a gentler way than summer allows. Each of these colors are represented below in the form of simple pieces which can be styled multiple ways to create your perfect fall outfit. As I always say, pairing denim with most anything makes an outfit complete! If you add some killer shoes like ankle booties or chic sneakers, then you’re ready to rock any event. On the other hand, you could really make a statement and go monochrome from head-to-toe. This look, although undeniably bold, can be a showstopper in the best way possible. Above all, remember to factor in your skin tone when working with jewel tones. Not every color will work best for you and it’s a great idea to experiment until you find the one that truly highlights you.
If you are about to truly experience fall then you may want to actually layer up. Although Swap Society is based on the west coast, our members live all across the US, so there is no shortage of giant cozy sweaters to keep you warm until the holidays! Neutral tones are always a good call when going bulky, yet still wanting to look casual. Pair these comfy pieces with straight leg pants or pencil skirts and tights. Just remember to keep the bottom simple and smooth, as to not look like a balled-up blanket! If you’re choosing a pull-over style and want to complete the cozy-chic look, add a pop of color (like the ones above) or a complementary neutral tone. Get ready to curl up with a cup of coffee or hit the town, it’s up to you!
Experiment! The truly fantastic thing about being a member of Swap Society is that you can easily—and without guilt—try out new styles whenever your heart desires. We always encourage a healthy dose of creativity because swapping makes the possibilities endless! You never know what you’ll discover by getting out of your comfort zone and trying something new. A baby step could be this long open cardigan below. It’s in an unassuming color and a simple shape, but the extra length gives your style a fun twist. Wanna push your fall wardrobe even further? Go for a 90’s throwback in the fuzzy, cropped, sweater below.
